Have you ever seen the city lights at night ... noise pollution right? Well what about all the costs associated with those lights? Think of all those huge parking lots that have giant lights glowing all night long ... why? Now the facility owners and management will tell you it's about security, which is vaguely reasonable. However, they only need to be on when someone is there.IDEA: Add motion sensors to all those light poles so that when someone moves in the area at night, the lights come on, but otherwise it is peacefully dark and quiet. Given the spacing of these poles typically should create a "grid" that would light an area with any activity - security maintained. Plus the cost savings from electrical conservation.

Most of the time we travel alone or at the max 2 people on the front seats, but the air conditioner cools the whole car though there was no need to do so. If we car companies can build transparent front seats and back seats partitions then we can same considerable amount energy. If one single person is there then block the air going to back seats and hence ac would be more efficient

First thing first, make sure that the air conditioner is not exposed to direct sunlight. As it has been observed that a shaded air conditioner consumes 5 % less electricity as compared to those exposed to sunlight.
While switching on the thermostat, set it at 78°F for each degree lower would mean 8% increase in the energy consumption.
Switching your thermostat to a colder setting the moment you turn on the air conditioner will only increase your power consumption. For cooling, 24°C is the best temperature

Turn off your computer and monitor when they are not being used. Contrary to popular beliefs, turning them on and off will not cause damage. If you are away from your computer at different intervals, make sure you have set thesave power option. And make sure you switch off you monitor everytime you leave your system even for few minutes as this will save lots of energy.

If your laptop has a lithium-ion battery (most do), let it run down to empty every three months, then power it back up to 100 percent. This recalibrates the battery life gauge (an inaccurate reading can fool it into thinking it's out of juice, resulting in premature system shutdown). This way you will save on your money & will benefit the environment too, as less batteries for garbage..
